New fine-dining Japanese restaurant Koryu opens in Colchester
A NEW high-end Japanese restaurant has opened in Colchester town centre.
Koryu opened earlier this week, replacing the popular Tokyo Sizzle eatery in Osbourne Street.
The Tokyo Sizzle brand has now moved to deliveries only with the unit being renovated in preparation for Koryu’s opening.
Koryu offers a high-end Japanese dining experience using the freshest local and Japanese ingredients, which are imported especially.
The menu features traditional Japanese favourites like sushi and Teriyaki as well as specialising in sashimi grade seafood.
The restaurant’s website states: “Koryu is a traditional and contemporary Japanese izakaya restaurant featuring modern Japanese cuisine.
“Our high-end menu showcases a variety of dishes from three sections – the main kitchen, the fresh sushi and seafood bar and the grill.
“Rather than offering traditional way of starters and main courses, the izakaya style is designed for sharing and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal.
“Our server will be very happy to provide explanations and assist you in choosing your dining-in menu.

Tokyo Sizzle, which served food on sizzling Teppanyaki plates, opened in October 2019.
The eatery has now moved to only offer food for delivery and collection.
